Frequently asked questions
What is the Project Office?
It consists of a dedicated virtual office reachable via web across a limited access for project groups: planners, clients, suppliers and other stakeholders involved. Instruments resources, ready made or personalized products may be found here.
How does it work?
The Project Office disposes of a dedicated communication interface consisting of:
- password access
- assisting technical/scientific online e-mail support to pose requests
- resource storage
- download facility for documents, images and other data
What is the Project Office good for?
It simplifies and speeds up the contacting processes within the project group during the development workflow. It represents a modality for collaborative planning, appropriate for complex development and for fast production sequences.
Are there other examples for Project Office
Yes, e.g. Princeton University, NJ (USA) activated a project to define organizational formats.
Which type of products may be obtained registering at Project Office:
- instruments for communication during the planning phase including techniques of simulation and verification of performance
- Instruments supporting the internal communication processes during the executive phase
What is the project simulation good for?
It helps publishing, understanding and communicating the project before its implementation and to evaluate ex ante various aspects of the project result
What is the verification of a project good for?
The verification compares the results with the originally defined project targets. The evaluation and validation process is usually conducted upon specific aspects. An overall project verification consists of a re-examination
What is the validation of a project good for?
The validation consists of the comparison of the project results with the conditions of use. The validation of the Public works in Italy represents the formal controlling process for the acceptance of the project results by the commissioning office. Check lists and other instruments for specific sectors may be found in the Project Office repository (e.g. for airport terminals validation)
Which other types of instruments are available regarding the executive planning process?
The are instruments for the management of project communication processes, contracting samples, standards for the production of workpieces based on international regulations, national normative frameworks, etc. available
What does the communication within project groups mean?
It consists of the data and information flows which are transformed by the planners into planning and organizational decisions for the building exchanging them between each other with the aim of project development.
What is communication within the project groups good for?
Communication is a critical aspect accelerated by the use of distributed information systems and the speed of internet transmission: control of the communication processes aims at avoiding mistakes due to the reduction of the operating times.
Are there any International regulations or technical standards defining the mode of communication within project groups?
Yes, there is the standard UNI ISO 10006:2005 Managements systems for quality – Guidelines for project quality management which at subdivision 7.6 treats communication processes as communication planning, information management and communication security management.
